Putting People First: KWSH Launches Wellness Office

At KWSH, caring for others begins with caring for our own people.

On 1 August 2026, KWSH took a significant step in strengthening staff well-being with the launch of our Wellness Office, becoming the first organisation in Singapore’s community care sector to establish a dedicated department focused on employee wellness.

The new office reflects KWSH’s belief that a resilient, supported and engaged workforce is essential to delivering safe, compassionate and high-quality care. As the demands of healthcare continue to evolve, investing in staff well-being is not just an organisational priority. It is a commitment to the people who care for our residents, patients and clients every day.

The Wellness Office is guided by five pillars of employee well-being under the SMILE framework:

  • Social well-being: Building meaningful connections and support networks
  • Mental well-being: Supporting resilience and emotional well-being
  • Individual physical well-being: Encouraging healthy lifestyles and self-care
  • Leadership & culture well-being: Fostering trust, recognition and supportive leadership
  • Environment well-being: Creating a safe, inclusive and positive workplace environment

Through these five pillars, the Wellness Office will drive initiatives that strengthen staff well-being, foster a positive workplace culture and enhance support systems across the organisation. By listening to employees and working closely with departments, it aims to translate staff needs into meaningful programmes, resources and workplace practices.

Explaining the vision behind the new department, Michelle Lew, Director, Wellness Office, said: “When we invest in our people, we invest in the future of care. Every staff member deserves to feel supported, valued and empowered to thrive.”

The establishment of the Wellness Office marks an important milestone in KWSH’s journey as a caring employer. While our staff dedicate themselves to caring for others, the Wellness Office serves as a reminder that their well-being matters too.

Because behind every exceptional care experience is a team that feels supported, valued and empowered to do their best work.Â
