On 31 May 2025, Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH) marked a joyous milestone — our 115th anniversary — with a special charity concert that celebrated our enduring legacy of care. It was an evening filled with music, unity, and community spirit, paying tribute to our rich heritage while looking ahead to the future of eldercare.
Held in support of KWSH’s enduring mission to provide quality and accessible eldercare, the 115th Anniversary Charity Concert brought together an enthusiastic crowd of around 380 guests and supporters.
We were honoured to welcome Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister for Digital Development and Information, and Member of Parliament (MP) for Jalan Besar GRC, as our Guest-of-Honour for the evening. We appreciated her presence and the time she took to be part of this special celebration with us.
Together with the community, we raised over $500,000, with all proceeds going directly towards sustaining the healthcare and community services provided by our Hospital.
A Night of Talent, Connection and Joy
The audience was treated to a vibrant showcase of local talent, including beloved personalities such as Liu Ling Ling, veteran artiste Lin Ruping, and the multi-talented Garrick Wong. Their performances were filled with joy, nostalgia, and heart, highlighting the powerful role of the arts in bringing people together across generations.
One of the most touching highlights of the evening was an intergenerational choir performance featuring 10 seniors from the Kwong Wai Shiu Care @ McNair’s Active Ageing Centre. In a moving display of community and creativity, the choir sang alongside our CEO, Dr Mok Ying Jang, who accompanied them on the piano.
“I am truly grateful that Kwong Wai Shiu Care @ McNair provides this Voices of Singapore program so close to where I live,” said Susan Ng Soo Keng, one of the seniors in the choir. “I appreciate the effort they put into supporting people like me in pursuing our musical interest.”
Honouring Those Who Care
In a meaningful gesture of appreciation, our nursing staff were invited as honoured guests for the very first time. Their attendance served as a heartfelt tribute to the dedication, compassion, and resilience they bring to their work every day. Their presence was warmly celebrated by the audience, a testament to how deeply their contributions are valued.
Looking Ahead With Purpose
As Singapore celebrates its 60th year of independence, KWSH reaffirms our commitment to build an inclusive, age-friendly future. From growing its Active Ageing Centre offerings to actively participating in national discussions on ageing and wellness, we continue to lead the way with compassion and innovation.
“As we reflect on 115 years of compassionate care, we are deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our community, partners, and friends. This milestone is not just a celebration of our past, but a reaffirmation of our mission. We remain focused on shaping a future where every generation is empowered to age well, supported by a caring and connected community. Events like this charity concert are powerful reminders of what can be achieved when we come together to celebrate and champion our seniors,” said Dr Mok Ying Jang.
A Celebration of Shared Values
The 115th Anniversary Charity Concert was not only a night of memorable performances but also a heartfelt celebration of the compassion and dedication that define Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital.
We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who joined us in person, contributed generously, or supported us from afar — your involvement made this milestone truly special.
