113th Anniversary Charity Gala: A Tribute to Former Chairman, A New 10-Year Plan
KWSH held a charity gala dinner on 5 November as we commemorated the Hospital’s 113th anniversary. Held at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, the event was graced by guest of honour, Mr Heng Swee Keat, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies. The Members of Parliament from Jalan Besar GRC (Minister Mrs Josephine Teo, SMS Mr Heng Chee How, Mayor Ms Denise Phua and Dr Wan Rizal), Hong Kah North SMC (SMS Dr Amy Khor) and Potong Pasir SMC (Mr Sitoh Yih Pin) also attended the event. The event celebrated Kwong Wai Shiu’s accomplishments in establishing a comprehensive network of care across multiple locations and also paid tribute to Mr Patrick Lee, the former KWSH Chairman who had been instrumental in our recent developments.
Our Tradition, Our Mid-Autumn
The eighth lunar month is upon us and so are the Mid-Autumn festivities! Keeping to KWSH’s tradition, our premises have been decorated with an array of lanterns hand-painted by our volunteers and nursing home residents. More than 800 lanterns are on show across our two nursing homes this year, most of them adopted by generous donors in support of the “Light a Lantern, Warm a Heart” theme for this annual celebration.
A Golf Getaway: KWSH Charity Golf 2023
Sentosa played host to KWSH Charity Golf 2023 as our golfers enjoyed a relaxing day at the famous island resort getaway on Friday, 11 August. The Sentosa Golf Club was abuzz with excitement and philanthropic spirit as the 140 golfers swung their clubs at The Tanjong Course for a friendly competition in support of Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital. The annual event, organized with the aim of raising funds for KWSH to continue making a difference and supporting the seniors in need, received a significant boost in prestige with the presence of Mr Desmond Tan, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, as the distinguished guest of honour.
Mr Tang Kin Fei Appointed Chairman as 91st Board of Directors Sworn In
Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital held the Board Installation Ceremony for our 91st term of Board of Directors on 8 July. Senior Minister of State for Defence, Mr Heng Chee How, who is also MP for Jalan Besar GRC (Whampoa division), was guest of honour for the event and presided over the oath-taking as the Board members were sworn in. Mr Heng has served as our local MP since 2001 where he has been immensely supportive of KWSH and graced many events in the Hospital. Mr Tang Kin Fei, the newly appointed KWSH Chairman, shared that it was especially meaningful to be inaugurated as Chairman by Mr Heng.
A Night of Love: KWSH Charity Concert 2023
It was “A Night of Love” at the Singapore Conference Hall on 21 May as Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital organised our Charity Concert 2023. The show was part of the Hospital’s fundraising efforts that will support our work in enriching the lives of our nursing home residents as well as seniors in the community. Typically held in the month of May, this annual concert celebrates Mother’s Day and honours the undivided love that our parents have for us. The event was graced by Guest of Honour Mr Gan Kim Yong, Minister for Trade and Industry, and we were delighted to have both Mr and Mrs Gan showing support for the meaningful event.
KWSH Community Care Day 2023: Annual Event Returns After Four Years
On 18 March 2023, Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH) opened its doors to the community for a fun-filled morning at our Serangoon Road premises. The event was especially meaningful for the Hospital, as it marked the first KWSH Community Care Day since the pandemic began. We were excited to welcome elderly from the community back to our annual community outreach event. The event attracted close to 1,000 participants who included seniors from the community and our nursing home residents.
