Some evenings leave a lasting impression not because they are grand, but because they remind us of what truly matters.
On 26 June 2026, as part of KWSH’s 116th anniversary celebrations, Music by the Pavilion returned to our Serangoon campus. More than a musical performance, the evening created a shared space where memories were rekindled, spirits were lifted and music became a bridge across generations.
Honouring A Legacy Through Music
Inspired by the success of Music by the Bay programme at KWSH Potong Pasir, Music by the Pavilion is built on a simple yet meaningful idea: transforming a familiar community space into one where music brings people together.
That evening, the pavilion became more than a venue. It became a place where familiar melodies stirred cherished memories, and where residents found comfort, joy and companionship through songs.
When Familiar Voices Returned
Residents were treated to performances by star contestants from the popular television singing competition《黄金年华》Golden Age Talentime, who paid heartfelt tribute to Mandopop legends such as Fei Yu-ching, Teresa Teng and other beloved artistes.
Marking 116 Years of Care
A highlight of the evening was the anniversary cake-cutting segment, a symbolic tribute to KWSH’s 116 years of service and its continued commitment to caring for generations of seniors.
Over cake and refreshments, residents caught up with one another, volunteers and staff, before settling back in to enjoy the rest of the performances.
One Song, One Community
The evening reached its emotional peak when residents, volunteers and staff came together for a community singalong of The Moon Represents My Heart.
For those few minutes, everyone shared the same melody, the same rhythm and the same sense of belonging. It was a simple moment, but one that captured the spirit of the evening beautifully.
More Than Entertainment
Music has a remarkable ability to awaken memories, lift spirits and foster meaningful human connection. For residents living in long-term care, evenings like these are more than recreational activities. They affirm that every individual continues to deserve opportunities for joy, self-expression and shared experiences, regardless of age.
