Dr Wong Chiang Yin is the Chairman of Medifund Committee.
A public health specialist physician by training, Dr Wong currently serves as a part-time Senior Consultant in Primary and Continuing Care, Ministry of Health. He is also an Advisor to Ministry of Health Holdings, and to National University Hospital System for the Healthier SG initiative. Dr Wong is a member of the Board of Governors of Anglo-Chinese School, his alma mater, and sits on the Board of National Healthcare Group.
Dr Wong has held senior leadership roles in the private healthcare sector, as Group CEO at three publicly listed companies: Thomson Medical Group and Cordlife Group Limited (both listed on SGX), and TMC Life Sciences Berhad (listed on Bursa, Malaysia). Prior to these roles, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Pantai Hospitals Berhad, one of Malaysia’s largest private hospital groups.
From 2000 to 2008, Dr Wong held key positions in Singapore’s public healthcare sector, including Chief
Operating Officer of Changi General Hospital and Singapore General Hospital, as well as Director of Projects Office of SingHealth.
Dr Wong has been actively involved in professional medical bodies. He has been an elected Council Member of the Singapore Medical Association since 1995 and served as its President from 2006 to 2009. He has also been an elected member of the Singapore Medical Council since 2020. Currently, Dr Wong serves as Master (Administrative Affairs) of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, following his re-election to the Council in June 2023. Previously, he served as Council Member/Censor from 2009 to 2021, Scribe from 2019 to 2020, and Assistant Master (Administrative Affairs) from 2020 to 2021. He has also held independent directorships on the boards of SGX-listed companies such as RHT Health Trust (2019-present) and Beng Kuang Marine Limited (2004-2019).
In recognition of his contributions, Dr Wong was awarded the Public Service Star (BBM) and the Public Service Medal (PBM) (Covid-19) in 2022.
