Traditional Chinese Medicine
Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital's Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Centre was set up in 2004, amidst rising demand amongst the elderly for our TCM services. Our physicians also provide acupuncture treatments for patients that require them. All our physicians are certified by the Singapore Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board.
In 2022, a second TCM clinic was established at KWSH @ Potong Pasir.
Announcement
Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital Traditional Chinese Medicine Centre Fee Revision
Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital Traditional Chinese Medicine (KWSH TCM) Centre has diligently provided Traditional Chinese Medicine services to the public at low and heavily subsidized fee since year 2004. However, operating costs have steadily risen sharply over the two decades, sustaining the service through charitable donations alone has become increasingly challenging.
Effective January 8, 2024, there will be a revision of fees at KWSH TCM Centre. To address the needs of low-income patients and seniors from the Pioneer Generation and Merdeka Generation groups, multiple subsidy tiers will be introduced.
The adjusted fee structure aims to strike a balance, enabling our services to reach a broader spectrum of patients, particularly those in the senior and low-income demographics. We appreciate your understanding and continued support in ensuring the accessibility of our TCM services to those who need it most.
Our inpatient acupuncture fees will be adjusted from 8th Jul 2024 onwards.
Please refer to Charges below to view the revised fee.
General Consultation
Our physicians will conduct a thorough check-up before giving a prescription. The raw herbs in the prescription can be purchased from traditional Chinese medical halls. The physician may also refer you for acupuncture.
Acupuncture
The acupressure points of the body are stimulated using small needles. One session can take about 20 minutes. Moxibustion, or the burning of herbs to warm affected areas of the body, may be applied in relieving pain and aches caused by rheumatism.
Cupping
Acupressure points are stimulated by applying suction through a plastic, wooden or glass jar to warm the affected areas. This will help to improve blood circulation in the treated area and help to relax the affected muscles.
