Project CARE 2018 by Hong Wen School

On 4 October 2018, as part of Project CARE (Children Actively Relating Well with the Elderly) since 2006, more than 1,300 pupils visited our elderly residents at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH) with school staff and parent volunteers organised by Hong Wen School annually.

The pupils were treated to experiential learning journeys, touring the redeveloped KWSH premises which include the iconic pavilion garden and the newly-opened heritage gallery, bringing with them goodie bags for our residents in the wards. At the Senior Care Centre, about 20 pupils interacted with our clients and distributed goodie bags, spreading cheers and joy to our elderly.

At the Multi-Purpose Hall, 30 of our elderly residents were treated to a performance by the Chinese Orchestra CCA (Co-Curricular Activity) group. Our residents were accompanied by 60 pupils and they enjoyed these meaningful moments together.

This inter-generation bonding activity advocates values such as harmony, compassion and appreciation. Said Primary 6 pupil, Tan Yi Ling, “I think that Project CARE is very meaningful as we can show our gratitude to the elderly who have contributed a lot in our nation building.”

KWSH would like to thank Hong Wen School for this impactful partnership we have together and look forward to more exciting collaborations in future.
