Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital 101st Anniversary Celebration
During the Hospital’s Centennial Gala Dinner last November, Prime Minister, Mr Lee Hsien Loong announced that the Hospital will carry on its operations at its original site to continue to serve the elderly and the community. Since then, the Hospital’s Board and Management have proceeded with more detailed planning on how the hospital can keep pace with changing times, to continue making contributions to the society and people in face of the growing demands and pressures of our aging population.
Chairman Mr Patrick Lee announced at the anniversary celebration on 16 October 2011 that the hospital will expand with a new high rise building next to the four existing buildings. This will increase the bed count by fifty percent, from the current 400 to 600, by expanding the facilities and services offered by the hospital.
The Guest-of-Honor, Minister for Health, Mr Gan Kim Yong, said in his speech that the Ministry of Health will work together with KWSH to achieve this goal to provide sufficient nursing beds for the citizens of central Singapore.
More than 400 nearby residents who participated in the celebrations were also given free western and Traditional Chinese medical consultations.
