Traditional Chinese Medicine

Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital's Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Centre was set up in 2004, amidst rising demand amongst the elderly for our TCM services. Our physicians also provide acupuncture treatments for patients that require them. All our physicians are certified by the Singapore Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board.

In 2022, a second TCM clinic was established at KWSH @ Potong Pasir.

General Consultation

Our physicians will conduct a thorough check-up before giving a prescription. The raw herbs in the prescription can be purchased from traditional Chinese medical halls. The physician may also refer you for acupuncture.

Acupuncture

The acupressure points of the body are stimulated using small needles. One session can take about 20 minutes. Moxibustion, or the burning of herbs to warm affected areas of the body, may be applied in relieving pain and aches caused by rheumatism.

Cupping

Acupressure points are stimulated by applying suction through a plastic, wooden or glass jar to warm the affected areas. This will help to improve blood circulation in the treated area and help to relax the affected muscles.
