Day Rehabilitation Centre (DRC)

Introduction

KWSH DRC was started in 2002 to offer rehabilitation day services. We also accept social cases to help care-givers who are busy during the day. Our services include physical therapy and medical and nursing services delivered by a team of healthcare professionals.

Our services

We provide:

- Therapeutical Services

	•	Our physiotherapists help clients restore or maintain mobility through exercise programs. Our rehabilitation programs are useful for clients who have suffered strokes or have undergone orthopaedic surgeries.
	•	Our occupational therapists help clients to improve their social, physical and psychological well being through recreational activities, functional cognitive and perceptual training. Home assessment and modification training are available for care-givers.
	•	In the event of emergency, our in-house doctors are available for consultation.

- Medical and nursing services

To make our clients’ stay as comfortable as possible, our nurses assist them with their blood pressure checks, dressings, medication and supervision of daily activities.

- Social activities

At KWSH DRC, we believe in providing our clients with holistic care to ensure they enjoy their stay with us. We organize daily group-oriented interactions and recreational sessions such as outings, concerts, cultural shows, and festive celebrations.

- Meals

•

Our registered dietician plans nutritious meals to ensure a well-balanced diet for our patients. Special meals are also available to cater to the needs of our patients i.e. low sugar, low sodium.

- Guidance for care-givers

•

At KWSH DRC, our main concern is always our clients’ welfare. As such, we provide education and supervision for our clients’ care-givers to ensure our clients’ safety and welfare even after discharge from KWSH DRC.

We accept clients with the following needs/problems:

	•	Stroke rehabilitation
	•	Movement or Self-care problems
	•	Early memory loss
	•	Social interaction

We also take in clients who are well but will benefit from placement in an elder-friendly environment where they can socialize.

Transportation

2-way transportation within 5km radius can be provided.

Eligibility criteria

We accept adults who are preferably above 55 years old, and with stabilised health conditions.

A pre-admission health screen will be carried out by our doctor for suitability to join our DRC program.
